Yumin

Yumin, who is currently a sophomore in high school, was thrilled when she was invited to join FemSTEM in 2023. To her, FemSTEM is a wonderful opportunity to not only serve as a mentor for young girls passionate about STEM but also to open new doors for them and be a source of inspiration – something she wished she had when she was younger.

In her childhood,  Yumin rarely found herself wearing white clothes since she had a talent for getting them dirty. Her love for nature drew her to the mountains, where she would play amidst the trees, eagerly searching for tadpoles in ponds and butterfly eggs beneath the leaves. Among her many passions, Yumin developed a particular fondness for reptiles, once spending hours in a Singaporean rainforest in search of a water monitor lizard.

Yumin is a proud Potterhead, and she began to immerse herself in STEM academically when she made a remarkable realization – studying STEM is akin to studying magic, only this time it is real and tangible. She loves to explore the universe to its most microscopic scale though biology and to its most macroscopic scale through astronomy. As she continues her highschool journey, she looks forward to delving into the realms of chemistry, physics, and advanced mathematics, eager to expand her knowledge even further.

Through her participation in FemSTEM, Yumin aspires to share the enchantment of STEM, just as it bewitched and unveiled its wonders to her.
