Ashley S.

Ashley is currently a sophomore, who joined FemSTEM this year thanks to her passion for STEM and for teaching. She is excited to work with young students and expose them to diverse and intriguing science topics, ranging from robotics to biology. She hopes that by working with her fellow passionate members, she will be able fulfill one of her many goals of inspiring young girls into STEM fields.

Ashley began immersing herself in STEM areas in seventh grade, but never became fully interested in mathematics and programming until the latter half of eighth grade. She quickly worked to build fluency in java and python within a semester and is now experimenting with C++, iOS application development, and more.

She has smoothly and successfully completed her school’s Calculus AB Independent Study Program and is excited to pursue higher levels of mathematics in the future. Despite her rocky beginning as a student who became immersed in male-dominated STEM areas later than many of her peers, she has found joy in the growth and learning she has experienced. Spreading this joy to youth through FemSTEM is one of many things on her agenda!
