Amy K.

Amy is a current junior, who joined FemStem in 2023 with a passion for wanting to be a motivation for girls pursuing a STEM field.

Amy has always had a passion for STEM, even as a little girl. Going to NASA museums and watching movies and shows of people working in the STEM area had been her hobby since elementary school, and because she was always surrounded by people who also had a passion for STEM, this passion quickly became one of her main interests and motivations in life. However, she realized that there had always been a lack of representations of women in the STEM field, even on TV shows, as many engineers and mathematicians were often shown as men in science related media. After seeing this, she realized that she wanted to help being this representation and inspiration for little girls who may have the same dilemma entering high school. This was her primary motivation for the decision to join FemSTEM.

Amy has always loved science, especially physics, and maths at school, and they have been her favorite subject ever since middle school. She has taken AP Biology and Chemistry in high school, and plans on taking AP Physics and AP Calculus next year in her course. Furthermore, she has taken numerous courses on the learnings of electrical engineering and semiconductor engineering, and plans on continuing this in the future as well.

Amy has always loved connecting with kids and teaching subjects that she is passionate about. In her free time, she loves to hang out with her friends, go ice skating or rollerblading, play the piano, or swim.
