Amy, a Sophomore, began her journey with FemSTEM in 2023 with her strong passion for the STEM field.

Amy was always a curious little girl indulged in the STEM field, ever since her first birthday ceremony where she picked up a stethoscope. Since then, she began her journey with STEM, growing up with her father being a dentist. Spending many weekends with her father, she got to hands-on observe the field of dentistry, eventually leading her to slowly grow even more interest for the STEM field. However, she noticed a “norm”— the lack of female representation in dentistry, and overall STEM field. So when she got an amazing opportunity to join FemSTEM, a great root of encouragement for girls to pursue STEM in their younger years of their academic careers, she instantly took the chance.

After building more knowledge with the Intro to Biology course last year, she further decided to continue her journey with Biology by taking AP Biology in her coming Sophomore year. She also plans to take more STEM-related courses in her future high school career.

Amy also has experience teaching younger students in the summer at a local preschool with English and leading students in dance productions. Apart from her passions with teaching and STEM, she enjoys dancing, colouring with oil pastels, and meeting up with friends at cafes in her free time.
